Kids Stories: The Clever Parrot and the Missing Mangoes

Kids Stories: Once upon a time, in a lush green jungle, there lived a colorful parrot named Polly. Polly had bright green feathers, a red beak, and a tail that sparkled like a rainbow. Polly wasn’t just beautiful—she was also very clever and loved solving problems.

One sunny morning, Polly flew to her favorite tree to enjoy some delicious mangoes. But when she got there, she was shocked! The tree was empty—every single mango was gone! Polly looked around and saw other animals nearby, all looking confused.

“Who took the mangoes?” asked Polly.

“I don’t know!” said Chippy the squirrel, twitching her bushy tail. “I saw them yesterday, but now they’re all gone!”

“I saw something fly by last night,” said Ollie the owl, hooting. “But it was too dark to see clearly.”

Polly decided to investigate. “Don’t worry, friends. I’ll find out who took the mangoes!” she chirped confidently.

Polly’s Plan

Polly flew around the jungle, looking for clues. She noticed a trail of mango peels leading to a nearby river. “Hmm, someone must have eaten the mangoes here,” Polly thought.

At the riverbank, Polly saw Flippy the monkey swinging on a vine. Flippy was munching on something. “Flippy, are you eating mangoes?” Polly asked.

Flippy grinned and showed Polly a banana. “Nope, just bananas! But I did see Mr. Tuffy the toucan carrying something orange this morning.”

Polly thanked Flippy and flew to find Tuffy.

The Truth Comes Out

When Polly found Tuffy, he was resting on a branch. “Tuffy, did you take the mangoes from the tree?” Polly asked.

Tuffy shook his beak. “I didn’t take all the mangoes! I only took one for my breakfast. But I saw a group of bats flying by the tree last night. Maybe they know something!”

Polly decided to visit the bat cave. Inside, she found the bats sleeping upside down. Polly called out, “Excuse me, bats! Did you take the mangoes?”

One of the bats yawned and said, “We didn’t mean to upset anyone! We were so hungry, and the mangoes smelled so sweet. We only took a few and left the rest.”

Polly realized that the bats hadn’t taken all the mangoes. “If it wasn’t the bats, then where did the rest go?” she wondered.

A Rainy Discovery

Just then, dark clouds covered the sky, and it started to rain. Polly flew back to the mango tree to shelter under its leaves. To her surprise, the rain made something shiny appear at the bottom of the tree.

Polly hopped closer and discovered a big hole filled with mangoes! “Aha! Someone hid them here!”

At that moment, Chippy the squirrel peeked out from a nearby bush. “Chippy, did you hide the mangoes?” Polly asked.

Chippy nodded shyly. “I’m sorry, Polly! I was so excited to save some mangoes for later that I took too many. I didn’t mean to make everyone worry.”

Polly smiled kindly. “It’s okay, Chippy, but next time, share with everyone!”

Happy Ending

Chippy brought the mangoes back, and Polly helped distribute them to all the animals. Everyone enjoyed the juicy mangoes together and promised to share in the future. Polly became the jungle hero, known for her cleverness and fairness.

From then on, Polly and her friends had a feast under the mango tree every season, and they all lived happily ever after.
