Stories for kids: The Clever Escape
Stories for kids: Once upon a time in a lush, green forest lived Bad Wolf, who was always up to no good. He was big, strong, and a little scary, but not very smart. His favorite activity was trying to catch his forest neighbors for a snack. But there was one animal he could never seem to outsmart: Intelligent Buffalo.
Intelligent Buffalo was known for his wisdom. He was gentle, friendly, and always ready to help the other animals. All the animals admired him and often came to him for advice.
One sunny day, Bad Wolf spotted Buffalo grazing by the river. “Ah-ha! Today is the day I’ll finally catch him!” thought Bad Wolf, licking his lips. He crept closer, hoping Buffalo wouldn’t notice him. But Intelligent Buffalo, with his keen senses, knew that Bad Wolf was lurking nearby.
Buffalo calmly spoke without even looking up. “Good day, Bad Wolf. Are you hungry today?”
Bad Wolf was startled. “H-how did you know I was here?”
Buffalo chuckled. “It’s hard to miss a big, noisy wolf sneaking around in the bushes.” Then Buffalo had an idea. “You know, Bad Wolf, I heard about a new way to catch food—by setting traps. But I’m afraid it’s quite difficult.”

“Traps, you say?” Bad Wolf’s ears perked up. “Tell me how, Buffalo! I want to try!”
Buffalo grinned. “First, you’ll need to find some vines, dig a deep hole, and cover it with leaves.” Buffalo explained each step, making it sound very complicated. Bad Wolf, eager to try, ran off to gather materials. He spent all afternoon building the perfect trap.
But when he finished, he was so tired that he didn’t notice the trap he set right in front of himself. With one clumsy step, he fell into his own hole!
Buffalo chuckled from a safe distance. “Maybe next time, Bad Wolf. But until then, enjoy your new home!” The other animals laughed, and Buffalo walked away, happy to have tricked the wolf without any harm done.
