Once upon a time, in a quiet, peaceful forest, there lived a small, gentle mouse named Milo. Milo was a happy little mouse who loved to spend his days exploring the forest, playing with his friends, and nibbling on berries. But when night fell, Milo had one big problem—he just couldn’t fall asleep.
Every evening, as the sun set and the sky turned dark, Milo’s forest friends would start settling down in their cozy homes. The squirrels curled up in their nests, the rabbits snuggled together in their burrows, and even the chirping crickets grew quiet. But Milo would lie wide awake in his little bed made of soft moss, his tiny eyes blinking in the darkness.
He tried counting stars. “One, two, three…” But there were so many stars that he lost track! He tried closing his eyes extra tight, but then his mind would start buzzing with all the fun he had during the day.
One night, Milo’s friend, Ollie the wise old owl, noticed that Milo was still awake. Ollie flew down from his tree and gently hooted, “Milo, why are you still awake?”
Milo sighed, “Oh, Ollie, I’ve tried everything, but I just can’t fall asleep.”

Ollie taught Milo to take three slow, deep breaths. Milo breathed in deeply, filling his tiny lungs, and then gently breathed out. Already, he felt a little calmer.
“Next,” said Ollie, “think of three things you’re grateful for.”
Milo thought and whispered, “I’m grateful for my warm bed, my forest friends, and the beautiful stars in the sky.”
Feeling peaceful, Milo curled up in his bed as Ollie softly sang a lullaby. As he listened, Milo felt his body relax, and his eyelids began to grow heavy. Before he knew it, Milo had drifted off into a deep, cozy sleep.
From that night on, Milo practiced his bedtime routine, and soon, he was falling asleep as easily as his friends.
