Maya and the Talking Clock
Maya was a cheerful little girl who loved to play all the time. She played with her toys, danced around the house, and spent hours drawing pictures. But there was one problem—Maya always forgot to do her homework.
Every evening, her mother reminded her, “Maya, finish your homework before playing.”
But Maya would reply, “Just five more minutes, please!” and then get busy with her games again.
One day, as Maya was building blocks on the floor, she heard a soft voice say:
“Tick-tock, tick-tock… Maya, listen to me.”
Maya looked around the room. Nobody was there. Then she noticed her clock on the wall was glowing!
The clock spoke again:
“Maya, if you use your time wisely, you can do both—study and play. Time is like treasure. Don’t waste it.”
Maya was surprised but listened carefully. She thought, “If I finish my homework first, then I can play without worrying.”
That evening, Maya sat at her desk, did her homework quickly, and then happily returned to her toys. This time she enjoyed playing even more—because her work was already done!
From that day on, Maya always remembered the lesson from her talking clock.
